MILITARY CEMETERY

At Tuesday night's meeting of the Borough Council the following letter was received from the Under-Seerc-tary of the Department of Lauds and Survey :•— "Refening to your letter of the Wthiiwt 1 have to .inform you that in the year 1890, 5 acres ;) roods 21 perches was reserved for cemetery purposes* and placed under the control ot tk Tauranga Borough Council, as trustees, by warrant published in the $Z Gazette of the 17th August, 1903, page 11)92. After the issue of the warrant mentioned it was ascertained that the cemetery was Dot Crown property aud the portion in which the graves are situated, containing i acres and 27 perches, was, therefore, taken under the Public Works Act as a ecmetciy by proclamation published in Gazette of Ist August, 190?. A warrant giving the Borough Council authority to control the cemetery and appointing them trustees under section 4 of the CemetnejAcfc> 11)08, requires to be issued.
