The State Parliament was opened to-day by HisExcelleney the Governor. His speech foreshadowed a readjustment of thehnances by the introduction of Bills amending the iacoma tax and stamp duties. Measures providing for closer settlement, and the amendment of the Arbitration Act will also bft introduced. The speech, also indicated the intention to impose a super tax on land, and the amalgamation of the Government Savings Bank.
It is understood that the Government'? proposals to amend tin; industrial law "will be directed ot substituting arbitration for the pres&nt Wages Boards, involving the appuiutuieut of new judges.
