CROWN LANDS
Cr. Stewart proposed the following resolulion^at the meeting of the County Council on Tuesday—That this Council (Vires to thank the Hon. Minister of Lands for having removed the goldfields restrictions from Crown landa -within the County of Taur_n<;a and respectfully urges on the Government to give practical effect to this initial _ttp by opening up for disposal under the optional clauses of the Land Act all available Crown lands within the County find inasmuch as the Katikati district has had no-Crown land open for settlement for twerty yesjs, the Hon Minister of Lands is urgently requested to place at least two .'-urvey parties in the field this year with a view to open up for settlement the Crown laeds aiea between Thompson's Trick and the Waipapa River.
Cr. Spence seconded the resolution and atked Cr. Stewart to make the f» Mowing a ditLn : And will the Government give a definite promise to open one block'of ■ the land between Thompson's Track and Aongatete this
year. Cr. Stewart agreed to the addition. Cr. Southey said the Mini.-ter cf Lands had jrorrijed to visit the district and go into the matter. The motion was carried unanimously.
