a ■- '■ m J The "Bay of Plenty Times" TAURANGA. i6tli May, 1913 To Ocr Rladlks. — In presenting to you an enlarged paper, it is with a conviction that the advancement ol the town and district demands a fitting response on behalf of the newspaper catering for its needs. A newspaper has been fittingly described as the Show Window of the town. It is desired, therefore, to make the BAY OF PLENTY TIMES as attractive as possible, and as the development of the town necessitates, and circumstances permit, it is hoped to present an increasingly bright and interesting paper. - Originally newspapers were simply a means of conveying to the masses the news of their own particular localities, and later that gathered from a more extensive field, The direct and continuous service thus created of reaching all classes of the community, was ultimately recognised as the most valuable service that could be used for advertising, and newspapers so became what they are to-day, viz., the most favoured medium for a vabt army of traders to reach the consumer. This in its turn has placed upon the newspaper a responsibility to render the best possible service iv the advertiser, Recognising this, and the right of our readers to a better news service, the HAY Ob PLENTY TIMES will in future be issued in its present enlarged form. Yours faithfully. THE PROPRIETOR. |£ !_^ss
