Counties' Conference.

The Secretary of the Counties' Association advised that a conference of delegates was to be held about the end of July or beginning of August. He requested that xll remits be forwarded to him by July 1, and that the name and address of the dt legate to represent the Council be furnished.

The Chairman moved -That Mr W. D. S. Mac Donald, M.P., be appointed delegate.—Seconded by Cr, Griffin and carried.

—Tumu-Kaituna Work. — Mr 0. J. Hodge. Clerk to the TumuKaituna Drainage Board, forwarded the following resolution passed at the meeting of the Board on May 31:-----"That the County Council be informed that (he Drainage Board approve the expenditure of £22 16s under workmen overseen by C. R. Vercoe and Jas. Pateraon, who report the work completed, and request the Council to forward cheque for the amount." If any ether particulars are required Mr Hodge said he would undertake to have them furnished, but in the meantime the workmen are very anxious to be paid. It was decided to refer the matter to the Supervisor.

—Paengaroa Roads. — The Chairman (Mr J. I. Vercoe) and Hon. Secretary (Mr C. K. Walter) of the Paengaroa Progressive Society, wrote asking the Council to favourably consider pumicing the main roads in the Paengaroa township, as they are as rough as any of the roads in the county outside a township. They stated they believed this work could be done reasonably by contract. Kqsolved—That the matter be referred to the Engineer to report upon. —A Rating Matter. -

Mr Kiri Tapsell, Maketu, wrote stating there was a summons out agains this father, Kereti Tapsell, for rates on Kauotehuia. The former stated he was quite willing to take Lhe liability, £9 lls lid, and asked to be permitted to pay it off in three instalments.—Resolved that the offer be accepted.
