SATURDAY'S JUNIOR MATCH.
The initial match of the season in connection with the junior competition took place on Saturday, the teams being Matakana and Star (Tauranga). Both teams showed more .strength and vim than knowledge of football, and with the ex'eption of one Star player, the teams seemed fairly evenly lr.uix'hed. The player referred to, UoL^rtshaw, was in a class .on his own, and scored the whole thirteen point; himself, three tries, two of which were converted. G. Asher captained the Star team, andßohe the Matnkana players. For the winners Robertshaw, Jordan, Asher and Biuhell were perhaps the pick, whilst the Native-' most conspicuous players were Taupi, Gardiner and.Rohe. Mr Geo. Hall had charge of the winitie, and Messrs Gardiner and J. Hall were linesmen.
