NEW YORK, March 26. * The American navy is testing 0. Barger's sub-surface torpedo-bott, which is immune from small gun fire. The cost of the torpedo-boat ia £4500 the weight bsing six tons and the length 46ft. tho carries a 1000-pound charge of guncottou.
Two men stationed on a conningtower amidships can steer the new torpedo close to the opposing battleship, take aim, and desert the torpedo-boil by means of lifeboats or lifebelts.
