TE PUNA BYE-ROAD

(To the Editor.)

Sir, — In a late issue of your valuable paper I noticed a letter over the signature Thos. Lochhead, re the Te Puna bye- road, and in a more recent issue the County Chairman's reply. As one of the ratepayers interested, I would like to state that the road in question is in a disgraceful state. I find the hill near Mr Humphrys' the worst bit of road that I have to travel over in the three counties which I pass through in my trips to the Motu. On my return journey last week my horse came dowu in the gig on the portion of road referred to, taking the hair off both knees, I wish to point out that I hold no special brief for Mr Lochhead/ but consider that " thrice is he armed who hath his quarrel just." Thanking you in anticipation. — I am etc., JNO. ARMSTRONG. "Waikaraka, March 23, 1910.
