At the conduskn of the coroner's inquiry into the fire in an ironmongery store on' J envois Ro-eltL, Ponsonby, en February- 26, in whiih. it ; w!as shown that the outbreak occurred in more titan one place, the police have arrested .Walter Bates, loccufaUt oj the premises,. oh a charge of wilfully attempting to get lire to the building with 1 Intent to d< fraud the Ttoyal Exchange and the Standard Insurance Companies.
