Captain .1. Teixc-ira is at present relieving Captain Faulkner in the command of the steamer Tasmnn, tho latter heing absent on holiday leave.
Massrs 11. Keene'niiri J. Reid, proprietors of tho Tauranga Gasworks, arrived here yesterday for the purpose of being present at tho official opening of the works to-morrow.
Mr Philpotts, clerk of the Court, will leave Tauranga on Wednesday afternoon for Te Puke, and will remain there all day Thursday, to transact busfness in connection with the Court, to be held there on th« 10th prox., returning to Taurunga on the morning of the 20th.
Mr! A. JE. # Snaith, who has been connected with the staff of the Tauramga iPost Office for several years and has proved himself a most capable and courteous official, is to be transferred to the charge of the Taupo Post Office. The transfer means well -merited! promotion and we> join with Mr SnaTth's numerous friends in' this district in wishing him every success in his new sphere. /
