Detractive Fire in Auckland.
_ o — ■ (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 28. Tha engineering premises of Messrs W A. Ryan and Co., in (iuay-eti-evt. Auckland, were totally destroyed by fire early on Christmas worniug, cverv thing but the bare brick walls being demolished. The total damage i« roughly estimated at £23,000. The following are the insurances for Messrs Ryan and Co.'s building and fittings. North British ami Mercantile £1300, Commercial Union £100, stock machinery ami plant. North British £7500, London-Liver-pool Globe £3500, Commercial Union £2000. Hotal.£3oo. Other companies aro int crusted in these amounts by reinsurance. The North British also covered motors \alucd at about £9000. The amount of insurance is not yet available.
