HORSES FOR THE CONTINGENT.
THE EDITOB. Sib, — In reference to the local in your issue of the 21 at inst with regard to the shipment of 1 2 horses last Saturday. My instructions were to buy horses as if for myself and not let people know that horses were wanted at short notice, so that excessive prices should not be asked. I made enquiries or -went to see every suitable horse I could hear of and am certain that more or better horses could not have been got at such short notice ; if any settlers feel that they have been left out, lam prepared to give up to £20 for all sound horses that are the age and height under instructions sent me. With regard to the insinuations made in a letter of the same issue signed 'A disippointed one, ' if the writer will kindly give me his name like a man, I am prepared to answer his insinuation in print. — I am, etc., ' B. Seddon. March 23rd, 1900.
