* . (Own cokrespondent.) The funeral of the late Mr Pursley took place on Friday and was largely attended by residents from Te Puke, Pongakawa, etc. The R*v. W. Gwdyear redding the burial service. Mr D. Lundon was in Te Puke to-day, (Tuesday), in connection with the leasing of some Crown Land to Mr Henwood, of this township. A meeting, convened for last Saturday for the purpose of form ing a Cricket Club was ad j mined till Thursday, the 19th inst. Counting in several recent arrivals here it appears as if Te Puke would be able* to put a very strong team in tten'eld during the coming season. No 1 School closed on Friday last for "the usual Michaelmas holidays and the H ad -master Mr Bishoprlck has gone to Auckland fora few days rfclaxatioi:. . I regret to record an unfortunate accident to Mr Keaney, teacher of the No 2 School here. Some yeare ago he had che misfortune to injure one of his ankleti and has hnd to be very careful of it since. On Saturday last, while walking to the township, he tripped ov*t a nntt and dislocated the formerly injured joint. Mr Dudson has at last got hi* machinery ail up and engine fixed and on Saturday a trial of theeame was held. Unfortuuately, while the machinery was in motion oneof the employees had the misfortune to get one of his handa caught and badly crashed.
