Auckland, this day.— At Supreme Court the Criminal Sittings were commenced on Monday.
Frederick Pearson, ayoung man, pleaded guilty to forging a cheque at the Thames aud was admitted to probation for twelve months. Margaret Williams, against whom there were 95 previous convictions, pleaded guilty to wilfully breaking a plate glass window and was sentenced to 12 months.
A boy, named William Franklain, pleaded guilty to breaking into a dwelling house at the Three Kings and stealing jewellery. Sentenced to two years. Daniel Wilson, found guilty of theft of tobacco from the cutter , Coralie was plaoed on probation for twelve months and ordered to pay costs of the prosecution. A boy named Albert Edward Frost, was found guilty of stealing money and goods from dwellings of Austrian gumdiggers at Walhopo. His Honor said it was the boy's first offen.ce but a very bad one. He had no doubt the prisoner had the plunder hidden away. Sentence was postponed till the last day of the session to see whether he would give any information to enable those hard working men to recover their earnings. Robert Levitt and James Nathan Trovy were found guilty of breaking and entering the premises of Messrs Morrin, Lome St. and stealing clothing aud goods. They were sentenced to 2 years hard labour.
ChasEobt. Anderson, committed for theft from Port Albert but against whom the Grand Jury found no true bill was discharged.
