} ■» 5 From ajn occasional correspondent. \ The Statutory Meeting of the Te [ Puke Road Board was held at the } Te Puke Hotel on Saturday last the i 18th of May. Present: — Messrs ; Bennett, Bird, Boucher, Harray and k Lally. J Mr Lally was unanimously re-elected 1 Chairman for the ensuing year. After he had returned thanks for . this honour, it was resolved, 'That • the meetings be held on tho last : Saturday in each month at 7 p.m. As a result of the drawing of lots » Messrs Lally and Harray retire at the end of the year. Messrs Lally and Bennett were ■ appointed to sign cheques. j The following accounts were passed for payment:— J. C. Galbraith, Returning Officer's fee., £1 Is; E. Pilling, rent of room by Board, , £1 10s; H. McDowell, work done on No 1 Road, £2 10s. A letter was received from Commissioner of Crown Lands approving of scheme for expenditure of thirds, also one from receiver of Land Revenue re payment of £43 8s 7d to the credit of Road Board. On the proposition of Mr Boucher, seconded by Mr Bennett 'It was resolved that in future three members of the Board together inspect each road and approve of it, before any progress payment is made.' It was resolved that next meeting be held on last Saturday in June. This concluded the business. After the meeting was over; the same five gentleman sat as Trustees of Te Puke Cemetery, when it was unanimously resolved to have the two acres ofthe Cemetery cleared of fern, etc., and kept tidy for the future. The Chairman agreed to see what arrangements he could make with J. Raymond and report at next meeting*,
