HER MISTAKE.
— ♦ — I "Kails," read old Mrs Pinaphor, who was not posted in ornithology, "are excellent eating nowadays. Well, of allthings!" she cried, in a tone of astonishment, "I would no more think of eating rails than I would white oak posts or a section of barbed- wire fence. No amount of cooking would make a rail tender I" And she turned to the death column and was disappointed to learn that none of her friends had joined the choir celestial since the last issue of the country paper.
