Coloured labour conference abandoned. Adelaide, June 23. — G-overnment has abandoned the proposed Conference re the introduction of coloured labour into the colonies. A big case dismissed Melbourne, Jnne 23. — A full court dismissed Merry's suit claimiag half a million from the Board of Works and Lands on account of the forgery of a deed. Parker, charged with the forgery, aid not appear and his bail was estreated. Cyclone in Victoria rvvo men killed. Melbourne, June 23. — Heavy storms have been experienced in various parts of Victoria. In Melbourne the wind blew 85 miles au h ur. A. cyclono passed over Ballarat doing considerable damage to the mines aod buildings. During the cyclone two men Preston and Billings were killed by thefaliog debris. The tide in Hobson's Bay rose two feet and the shipping had an anxious time, but fortunately no damage was done. murder through jealousy. Sydney, June 22 — A man named Richard Hoskins, shot his wife and then himself out of jealousy ; both died. They were formerly residents iv New Zealand. Funeral of Lord Ancriim. Sydney, June 22.— The funeral of the late Lord Ancrum took place today j there was an immense concourse of people. The small pox scare. Sydney, June 22.— 1n consequence of the small pox on board the steamer i Oroya, the Board of Health decided not to issue clean bills of health to vessels leaving Sydney. . The cases of illness amongst those who arrived by the Oroya developed into small pox, though in a modified form. Queensland separation , bill. Bbisb^ne, June 23.— A separation )ill has been introduced into the House of Assembly and read a first time. It provides for three provinces, Southern, Northern and Central, and the boundaries of each are practicallj the. same as those contained in the resolution submitted to Parliament bj Sir S. Griffiths last year.
