According to an arrangement tnade on Saturday Bth ius t. a meeting of those interested in the formatiou of a cricket club in this neighbourhood was held oh Saturday eveuiug last in Mr B. McDonnell's hotel, Uretart. The weather unfortunately was ex. tremely inclement and the attendance in consequence much below what wai expected, only about 14 gentlemen putting in an" appearance. The utmost enthusiasm however was evinced in the movement, all present expressing themselves as determined to give the undertaking every support and bring the Katikati Cricket Club of 1887 to a successful issue. The Com mittee reported that a very fair pitch could be obtained in Mr B. McDonnell's paddock, the owner having kindly consented to allow the Club to use it. On the niotion of Mr William Taylor it was resolved that the first match of the soason "North rersus South," be played on Saturday 22nd inst. in Mr McDonnell's paddock, play to commence at 2.30 sharp. The boundary line between the Northern and Southern ends of the settlement it was agreed should be the Uretara river. Teams will be chosen on the field where it is hoped a large number of players will muster, and at the match the names and subscriptions of those wishing to join the Club will I have no doubt bo gladly received by the Secretary, Mr William Tuthill. The weather during the last week simply baffles description, westerly gales accompanied by heavy showers being the order of the day, and the wind at times in Katikati is something 4|o remember. / «.
