KATIKATI.

School Committee Meeting. — The regular monthly meeting of the " Katikati North District School Committee" took place within the No 2 Pchoolroom, Uretara, on Saturday last at 11 a.m. Members present, ' Captain Macmillan, (Chairman preiiding,) Messrs Anderson, Gledstanes. Killen, Simms, and Turner. The head teacher, Mr Mulgan, wai »Uo present. Minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed, also reports, and inventories of scbooi, and teachers residence, from Mr Mulgan. On the motion of Captain Macmillan, Messrs Gledstaues, Killen, and Simms were appointed a committee to communicate with the Board of Education, to endcarour to procure some remuneration for Mr James Gallaher, for the improvements made by him, in the grounds attached to tbe teachers residence. — Several accounts wero passed for payment, and cheques issued for same. — The neit meeting of the School Committee will take place on the second Saturday of November. Katikati Boad Board. — A meeting of this Board took place immediately i after the close of the School Committee meeting, in the same place, all tha Trustees being present. Minutes of last meeting, were read, and confirmed. Mr Andrews moved, and Mr Turner seconded tbat the resolution altering the times of meeting of the Board carried at last meeting, be revoked, and that the meetings of the Board take place aa formerly on the second Saturday of each month at neon. Mr Killen spoke at great length against the motion, and stated that the meetings should take place erery three months. Mr Andrews in replying atated that it waa a well known fact that Mr Killen had several times, tried to do away with the Board altogether. On the motion being put to the meeting, it was carried by four to three. Accounts to the amount of £20 7s were passed for payment, and cheques issued. It waa agreed to allow Mr Car swell £2 10s for repairs on road leading to hia property. Oct. 14, 1887.
