" ' Sib,— l -wisli through your columns to draw the attention of our Borough Council to the necessity of making and enforcing some byelijjjws' with respect to the use of bicycles in $i»e streets of the Borough, such as making f&e use of a bell compulsory with the addition of a lamp after sunset ; also providing for? a; Jieayy penalty for riding on the footiath; this last being a most dangerous pract£Q?j:;ft»<l 9 n c of which I have seen several instancea lately. In some English towns there is also a byelaw rendering it necessary for' a bicycle rider to dismount if called on to d!o so by the driver of any conveyance. I have already seen a slight accident to a team of waggoii horses since the first appearance of ftiese machines here.— l am, &0., ._.-.:--•- • ' Touchstone.
