INHARMONIOUS HARMONY.
TO THE EDITOE. Sir,- — Perhaps yon will allow me as a comparative stranger, and on-lookei', to make a few brief remarks on the musical portion of the service in Holy Trinity Church yesterday. The absence of roverence must have been painfully felt by all those to whom Divine service is not a mere form. No blame attaches to the organist, but one member of the choir sang so as to overtop all the other voices, as if his only desire was to display his own powors. The effect produced (apart from the question of irreverence) was harsh and displeasing to every ear trained to harmony. Surely this is unseemly to say the least of it, and if this self-satisfied individual is not inclined to learn from the organist how to modulate his voice properly, perhaps a hint from the clergyman might have the effect of preventing him in future from thus disturbing those who desire reverently to sing God's praise. With apologies for this intrusion on your space. — I am, &c, A Lovee op Haemony. Tauranga, April 20th, 1885.
