Monday. Mr Gordon Allen, aged GG, a wellknown solicitor of tiis city, died yesterday, after a few days' illness, from an attack of laryngitis. The steamer Waihora arrived this morning at the Bluff: from Melbourne, with an English mail. Passengers for Auckland — Mr and Mrs Eeid, Mr Cart wright, and two in the steerage. A detachment of Armed Constabulary, consisting of 38 men, arrived from Taupo yesterday, under the charge of Captain Gudgeon, for the purpose of receiving instruction in big gun drill.
