" December 6th, 1881. " I have tried the Salsaline by using it in the Dairy for Milk and Butter, and am perfectly satisfied with the results, both as to keeping the Milk sweet, and obtaining- from it a larger quantity of Cream ; it is also an excellent preservative for Butter. I have used it to great advantage in the Milk, one pound of Salsaline dissolved in boiling water, and a fair proportion of the same put into each milker's bucket, will preserve 200 gallons of milk for thirty-six hours, I could not say how much longer. The Milk drawn on the same morning and placed on the same shelf in the dairy, will be found to be quite thick, while that wi>h Salsaline will be thin and sweet as in winter, and the calves seem to thrive bo much better on it, and they will not take the thick sour Milk, which is -wasted. — J&DCE&.
