ANNIVERSARY DAY.

AUCKLAND ANNUAL REGATTA.

The following is the result of the regatta held at Auckland on Thursday. The weather, though showery, gave promise of a fine day's sport, with a good breeze from the eastward. The s.s. Triumph had several hundreds of spectators on board, including the Regatta Committee. There were thirteen events on the programme, the firßt two of whioh — Scows, and Trading Vessels 50 tons and upwards (any rig except cutters)— fell through for want of sufficiency of entries.

Third race. — Trading Cutters, 25 tons and upwards, was a good race, resulting in a win for Nellie, the competitors coming in in the following order — Nellie, 1 ; Fannie, 2 ; Sovereign of the Seas, 3 ; Deveron, 0 ; Manua, 0. Fourth race. — Coasting Vessels, any rig, 12 tons and under 25 tons, whioh have not been built for yachts. For this event the following boats competed — Henry, Gannet, Mahurangi, Euphemia, Antelope, Lily, Emma, and Lark, and resulted in Mahurangi, 1 ; Henry, 2. Fifth race. — Yachts, over 6 tons, resulting as under — Rita, 1 ;• Arawa, 2 ; Muritai, 3. Time allowance between the Arawa and Rita makes the latter win by 13seos. Sixth race. — Vessels, 4 tons and upwards, for which Christina, Bella Mary, and Albatross started. After & good contest the race resulted Christina, 1 ; Bella Mary, 2. Seventh race. — Yachts and Fishing Boats, under 4 tons. There were eleven entries. The. sight of these boats all coming up the harbour in company was a very pretty one. The Mignonette, 3£ tons, was leading, and this boat retained her lead during the race, which resulted as "follows — Mignonette, 1 ; Brothers, 2 ; Shrimp, 3 ; Sybil, 4. Eighth race.—^Yachts, 4 to 6 tons. Jessie Logan, Malua, Masher — in above order at 3 p.m. Ninth race. — Open. Sailing Boats, second class. Dream, 1 ; Mascotte, 2 ; Imp, 8 ; Poet, 4. Tenth race. — Open Sailing Boats, third class. There were six entries, resulting in the following order — Violet, 1; Lad, 2 ; Ely, 3. Eleventh race. — Merchant Sailing Vessels' Gigs, for four oars and cockswain. Vandura, 1 ; Rebecca Cromwell, 2. Twelfth race. — Kohimarama Training School Boys. Kohimarama 'No. 1 and No. 2. This was won by the following crew — Butters, Hargrave, Vesey, Jesser, Garey, Donnelly, Daniels, Watts, O'Oonnell, Meek, and W. Smith. Thirteenth race. —Champion Fiveoared Whaleboats. There were, nine entries for this race, which was splendidly contested from start to finish, and resulted in Maia (Waitemata Boating Club), 1 j Hauraki, 2.
