ROTORUA.
Friday. The Rev. S. Fox, of New South Waleß, preached to* a large number of natives in Tamati Kapua last night. He expounded the Scriptures at considerable length, and seemed to have hit the native tastes. It was the first time he had addressed the natives of New Zealand, and hoped what he had said would induce them to advert more to Christian principles, and that, as he was not likely to sfee them again, there was a hope, if they adopted what he had preached, they should all certainly meet in Heaven. The natives seemed to be deeply impressed, shook hands, and bade him farewell. He said when he reached Sydney he would think of the evening he spent in Ghinemutu, and would also remember them in his prayers, and ask for their temporal and eternal welfare, and he asked them to pray for him, that utterance might be given unto • him to open his mouth boldly and make known the mysteries of the Gospel, and to advance the cause of Christ in whatever part of the world he was in. The rev. gentleman and his wife left this morning for Tauranga, where they intend to spend a few days.
