Mr Street has promised to state next week whether he can attend the conference of the Premiers here or at Hobart in February.
SYDNEY, Jan. 16.
Commodore Erskine, who has been superceded in the command of the Australian Squadron by Admiral Tryon, hasbeen appointed Commodore first class. His promotion was acknowledged by a general salute from the warships in harbour.
HOBART, Jan. 16
A conference between the Victorian and Tasmanian Ministers, with a view to the establishment of a mutual Customs' tariff, is now being held here.
