The game commenced shortly after 10 a.m., Iforth Shore having decided to take the wickets. G. Wynyard was first to make a stand, and gave the field a lively time. He made 21|before he was dismisssed by underhand bowling. Wynyard next followed with a score 49,. put together in a careful style. The only i other player, who succeeded in getting into double figures was E. Beale, who reached 12 to his credit. The firat innings ! of. the North Shore closed for 119. The Bay of Plenty went to the wickets at 1.40. | Griffiths was soon disposed of ; but Kidd I gave the bowlers some trouble, until at length he was caught by Slattery, off G. Wynyard, when he had succeeded in placing 18 to his credit. Reid made the best stand of the visitors, and for his 26 he displayed some really good cricket. Farrar again displayed some sterling cricket by adding 14 to the score, the innings closing for 84, being 35 behind those of their opponents. In. the first inninga the batting of the visitors was, on the whole, a decided improvement on that of the previous day. After a short spell the North Shore were sent in for their second innings to the bowling of Farrar and Reid. The chief features of the innings was the long stand H. and R. Wynyard made, the former with 56 and the latter 44, making 100 between them, the bowling being changed several times ; but they were eventually disposed of by thb underhand bowler, Farrar, who obtained no les* than five wickets. Donovan (11), G. Wynyard (12J, and Bennett (12), were also successful in. getting into double figures before time was called at 6 o'clock, North Shore having put together 160 with one wicket to fall. The match resulted in favour of the North Shore, but will be considered a dra«n game, as it had been arranged that it should be played out or considered as a draw.
