SCHOOL COMMITTEE V. JUSTICE.

■20 TUE. EDITOR.,

Sir, — Youv report of the, adjourned moeting of tho Tauranga School Committee is calculated to raise- grave doubts as to their ideas of, right and wrong, as far as justice is concerned. It is quite evident tho committee do not think that what is sauce for the goose is sauqo for the gander. Without going into tho particulars of tho case, which were laid before the Committee, we find two of the- old members, Messrs Young and Maxwell, proposing a vote of censure cm the master — a very mild way of dealing wiih the matter ; when the, Chairman proposes an amendment that the matter drop ; this he carries on his own casting' votel The- question of whether a ihaster is- justified,' in using a supple-jack to cane" a child -six years of ago is one 'that requires lie*'consideration ; the matter before the committee was simply tliis—^-was the ' master guilty of this inhuman conduct, or not ; and justice to the master, the child and the public required that this matteVshoilld be sifted to the very bottom before it was allowed to drop.— l am, &c, ! , . ■ • ■' ■ ■ A Parent.
