CHRISTCHURCH.
Numerous Fires. A Bortes of fires occurred on Friday night and Saturday. Mrs Fitzgerald's boardinghouse, at Sydenham, and two small houses were burned. The Insurances aro Standard, £550 ; South British, £500 ; National, £200. A aoven-roomed house at Sandbridge has been burned. It was insured in the Liverpool and London for £400. A bookseller's shop in the city also caught firo, but no damage was <3<raa.
The Grange at Eyre, a ten-roomed house, j belonging to Mr Franklin has also been j totally consumed. It was insured for £500. j Edgar Basting 3 haa committed forgery. j Mrs Groehe, widow, aged 70, was found j dead at Kaiapoi. The supposed cause is apoplexy.
