The Waikknea Murder Indignation is felt at the' reported recommendation of the Government-to the Governor to commute the sentence of Walsh, the Waikanea murderer to imprisonment -for life. The Times of this morning has a leader on the matter, arguing .that there were no extenuating circumstances of insanity whatever, and that the plea advanced by prisoner's counsel at th& trial fell to the ground against the weight of evidence, aiid that tho grounds opon which it was now attempted mote the sentence v were not' referred to aid the trial. It says : " K ever man deserved hanging, that man is .'James Walsh.".
