NIGHT WATCHMAN.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, — I was yesterday asked to Bign a paperguaranteeing a weekly payment to a Mr/ Maning for his services as night -watchman, in the town. I refused to do so, as I know nothing about this individual further thanthat ho has tried his hand at half-a-dozen things since his arrival here, and carried out none. I trust, Sir, that if townspeople decideto employ a night . watchman— a veiy necessary and desirablo office — that a person of known character and local knowledge will receivo the billet, in which case I shall beprepared to add my name to the guaranteelist. — I am, «See,, Storekeepeb.:
