The. s.s. Rowena left Auckland for this port at five o"clock yesterday afternoon. The Union Company's s.s. Hawea, Captain Wheeler, arrived from the North yesterday morning early, and anchored at the man-of-war anchorage. She left again for Gisborne and Southern Ports shortly after eleven. We are indebted to the purser for latest Auckland files. The Christmas Holiday trip of the s.s. Hawea round the Middle Island, lately advertised in our coliimns, Appears to have been promptly taken advantage of. Some eight or nine passengers from Auckland were on -board yesterday, and we learn that the Auckland agents received news from the headoffice at Dunedin that so many applications had been made as to necessitate providing additional accommodation.
