WHO IS THE PEOPLE'S FRIEND? WHY G. B. MORRIS, VOTE FOR HIM.

The polling for the various candidates for the representation of the East Coast will take place tomorrow, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. At Tauranga the poll will be taken at the Court-house. We have received Reed and Brett's " Auck' land Almanac, Provincial Hand-book, and Stranger's Vade Ifecum for 1876." The information it contains is reliable and minute and the almanac will be found invaluable in every merchant's and storekeeper's office. The price this year is reduced to one shilling, The annual festival of the Tauranga D is* trict School took place on the school ground on Monday last, The whole arrangements reflected the greatest credit upon the committee, who spared w> pains to make the day a happy o-ue to- the many young ones and also to the older visitors who were present at the gathering, Games of all descriptions were commenced about mii-day, and kept up with unflagging energy until dusk, a sumptuous tea having been provided -in the meanwhile. About eight o'clock Mr Hoyte, who had kindly volunteered to give a display of fireworks, appeared on the ground, and, much to the enjoyment of the young people, set off various rockets, blue lights, &c. The day's amusement concluded with a dance, which was held in the echooUroona. We must congratulate the School Committee and the schoolmaster (Mr Goodwin) upon the very pleasing result of another o-f these annual gatherings, and, at the request of the Corni mittee, we have much pleasure in uetiurning t leir thanks to those friends who by tie assistance they gave in more ways than one contributed so materially to the success of the festival.
