Theee has been unusual animation in the Auckland cattle market. At auction, on Friday last a very large number wore entered at the yards 'of Messrs Hunter and [Nolan, and nearly all dlspoaed of at advanced prices. There was a large attendance of buyers, and the bidding was spirited Some very good store bullocks averaged £8 16s each; three-year-old steers, from £5 7 8 6d ; two year-olds, from £3 10s to £3 17a 6d j yearlings" from £1 15s to £2 6s j dairy cows, from £5 to £7 7s 6d; a yearling shorthorn bull, £9 ss. Fat calves were very plentiful, and sold at reduced prices. Fat beasts were in moderate supply • the bidding was good, but prices ruled a shade lower 30s per 1001 b being the top figure. Sheep were penned in limited numbers, and were all bought by the butchers at about 2s per 81b. lambs were not numerous, but prices were scarcely so high as has been the case for some time. There was again a short muster of pigs, and there was a good demand. The crops throughout the Bay of Plenty are looking positively luxuriant. Wheat from our district has always realised the highest prices, and we have every reason to * believe the coining harvest (which will be a heavy one) will prove no exception to the rule.
