Policoconstable Beacock joined the Goldstream Guards when only 17 years of age, and was captured in 1916 by the Germans, but escaped to the British lines a fow days later in a German uniform. Ho served 3% years # , and was wounded and gassed. Whilst in hospital he volunteered for a blood transfusion operation, which was successfully performed.
