MILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Tho monthly meeting of the Oonncij ■was Held in tho Council Chambers on Vv'edncsdny night. Present: Tho Mayor (Mr 0. King), Ors. W. H, Hitchon, A. Bennio, W. Kirby. J. Moronoy. G Dabinefcfc, K W- dipstick, T G..Henderson, and M. W. Fiemiog. Correspondence Four ratepayers in Aju slreot wrote requesting that improvements bo effected to the grass-grown footpath in Ajix street, from tho old pottery to comer of of District road. —Referred bo tho Works Committor, with power to net. Messrs Ushcrwood and Co. notified having consigned a quantity of carbido to Council's offer. —Received. Fir James Allen acknowledged receipt of Council's letter in'imatiug its resolution in support of tho proposed South Oiugo Hospital district, which would roccivo duo consideration when the Bill came before Parliament, . Tho N.Z. Automobile Association forwarded circular letter urglog that, in i.ho intojt'cst3 of public safety, tho approaches to all bridges should bo pointed white.—lt was stated that tho control of the bridges at northern and southern boundaries of Milton was veßted in tho Brueo Counby Counei 1 . On the motion of Crs Hitchon and Capstick, it was decided to supper, the proposal. Mr Malcolm Feasor, Government Statistician, wrote again asking that cortain statistics bo immediately supplied for inclusion in tho Municipal Year Book —lnformation to bo supplied when the Council's books placod ou a proper footing by the Government Auditor. Mason Struthers and Co. notified that a ifhlpment of carbide was duo to arrive shortly from Now York, which would prob\bly include Council's order. —Recdv>ul. Mr A. S. Malcolm, M.P., wrote thankiig Council for its adoption of resolution in favcr of formation of South Otago Moaoital diihior, Mr A. McDonald, Badclutha. requited Council to elect its delegates to the provisional committee of tho Hospital district; representation to consist of two members each from Balclntlu and Milton Borough Councils ; three each from Clubha and Bruce County Councils, and ou3 from .Olutha and Bruce Farmera' Union?.—Tho Mayor and Cr Fleming were appointed. The Obgn - Hydro Electric Power Committee wrote asking for grant of £BS towards tha turn of £2,000, estimated as required for necessary preliminary investigation to di-cover the most suitable aourco of electric power for tha whole province. He requested tho Council to maka up tin difference, and pointed out tho strcnuona work undertaken by him d -y and night during tho epidemic.
