A .meeting pt' the .members of the Kuifangata Bowling Club was 'held--in ; the club's pavi.lion on' Tuesday evening ['to consider the report from Mr Lowe as to the best .anethod of restoring the 'grass on the playing area, which was destroyed 'by the recent flood'. Mr Lowe's 'report, which deals fully with the green- and the 'best method to conserve the grass, was of a comprehensive nature, and will be published next issue. It was moved by Mr J. Oliver, "That Mr Lowe be thanked for his very able report, and also for his offer of> assistance to the club." —Seconded 'by Mj l Penman and carried. Mr Lowe, who attended the meeting, personally offered to answer any questions. Several menvbers -asked for in-" formation, and Mr Lowe replied to the satisfaction of all. The club agreed to carry out Mr Lowe's suggestions. Messrs Penman, am"? fltutherforuV- were appointed.to make arrangements to'procure soil suitable for top-dressing. The meeting then adjourned until Thursday. GENERAL. Work was stopped in A'o. 2 Kaitangata mine on Monday last owing to a fire breaking out in one section and also to a heavy fall of coal, necessitating the blocking off of that section. This is rather unfortunate, as there was still sufficient coal to keep the men working for at least six months. Work was resumed again on Tuesday, nnd it is understood that places will be found for all the aiien affected within the course-of the next day or two.
