TURKISH ATROCITIES.

DIABOLICAL CRUELTY. NEW ZEALANDER'S ACCOUNT. In a letter home, Trooper Norman Miller, of Masterton, who is at the Dardanelles, writes: "If anyone tells you that the Turk is not a cruel, inhuman beast do not believe it. We have had too much evidence of the diabolical cruelty of the Turks not to regard them as unfit to live. We always have in front of us the Belgian atrocities. We saw. evidence of these in Egypt, and as far as our own company is concerned (and needless to say the Australians as well) we take practically no prisoners. We never let snipers live, and we have no hesitation in throwing them over the nearest precipice or putting them beyond doing further mischief. Snipers may appear brave, but they are really abject cowards. While hidden behind safe positions they are 'brave' in firing on exposed men or on our wounded, but once they are captured they are the biggest, cringing cowards you ever saw. The Australian troops are more bitter against the Turks than we are, because they have been served some very low down tricks by these comrades of the unspeakable Hun. The man who says that the reports of Turkish atrocities are untrue is totally out of touch with the fighting on Gallipoli Peninsula. Now, of course, there is less chance of the Turk practising any of his dirty tricks, as we know most of them, and never give a Turk a chance. As soon as we get within striking distance the Turk is out for all time." -
