Toko. High School.

The annual meeting of householders, held in the Coronation Hall on Mouday ovoniug, was only sparsely attended, there being about a dozen householders present, in addition to the members of retiring "committee. Mi J W Petrie prodded. The annual report and balancosheot, as published in last issue, were taken as read, on motion of Messrs J BrecU and Jas Gray. The Chairman briefly moved the adoption, and commented on the fact that although the credit balance had been reduced f r«n £O2 17s 3d to £3l) 8s 4d, the money iiad been expended on permanent improvements to the school and grounds. The balance was substantial for the commencement of another year's operations. Jilverything in connection with the school work had gone on smoothly. There had been numerous alterations in the personnel of the stall',„ and the most harmonious relations existed „ between the staff and members of the committee. The sohool had earned an excellent report in the annual examinations, and this was a source of gratification to the couimitteo.— The motion was seconded by Mr J Breok. No questions or comments were forthcoming, and the report and balance-sheet wore unanimously adopted. Mr G H Thomson moved the reelection of the retiring committee, en bloc, with tho inolusion of Mr J Breok, vice Rev G Miller, resigned. Seconded by Mr J Gray.— No other nominations were forthcoming, and following' gentlemen were declared duly elected:—tiov J C Small, Messrs R Milne, J W Fetrie, J Taylor, J R Liaing, A Currie, J R Wilson, T Hitchon, and J Breck. Mr Thomson proposed a vote of thanks to the retiring committee for their labors during tne past year. Although not having had tho opportunity of perusing tlte annual reporc, he had noticed from paragraphs in the Bruce Herald on various occasions that they had held meetings "in committee." Whether the business transacted there was' of public nature or otherwise it demonstrated that the interests of the school were beiug carefully looked after by the committee. He suggested that, in future, copy of tiie report and balance-sheet should be published prior to tho evening of the meeting, thus giving householders an opportunity of studying the clauses therein.—Secnded by Mr J Davie. The chairman duly acknowledged the complimentary relerences. On motion of Messrs J R Wilson and A Currie, it was resolved to place on the minutes an appreciation of the services rendered on the sohool committee by Rev G Miller during his long t connection therewith, and that a copy of the resolution be forwarded to the rev gentleman. The hou&eholders' meeting then adjourned.

Milburn. I The annual meeting of householders in the Milburn district was poorly attended, and Mr AF Grey, chairman of tho letiring committee, presided. The annual report and balance-sheet, as published below, were read by the secretary, and were adopted unanimously:— " ihe four meetings during the year, with an average attendance ot six members.—The school building, outhouses, and grounds have been kept in excellent order. The old flag polo was taken down, and a new one erected on the school building. The matter of erection of a new flag pole was left m the hands ot the works committee and the chairman, to report at the next meeting.—The chairman, howevor, decided to erect the pole at his own expense in appreciation of the sympathy extended to him on his recent sad bereavement.—The commitiea took advantage of the Government's £ for £ suosidy, also the Education Board's subsidy of 10s for the purpose of forming a school library, and a good selection of books was purchased uy Mr Pilling. The Education Board also gave a library cupboard to hold the books.— The annual picnic was to have been held at Taieri Beach, but owiug to die lateness of the season, and the weather conditions about the date fixed, the picnic had to be abandoned. —The average attendance of pupils during the year was 54; the number un the roil last year was 58, while the present roll number is 63.—Three proficiency certificates wore gained, and one competency certificate at the examinations. j Balance-sheet—Receipts: Balance from previous year £l2 2s Id, grants from Education Board for ordinary purpose £2a lis (kl, library subsidy £2 ißs 3d, for conveyance of children £l7 2s 6d; total £55 14s 4d. The following were elected as committee for the ensuing year:—Messrs A B Grey (chairman;, K Henderson (secretary), W Grey, J G fc> Tomkiusou, J Wilson and W T Brabyn. A vote of thanks was accorded the secretary for his .work during the year. It was reported that 130 books had been purchased for the school library, and several accounts were passed for payment.

Glenore.

The annual meeting of house holders was held iu Gleuore school on Monday evening, when there were more than the usual number of householders present. The retiring chairman read the aunual report and balance-sheet, wiiioh were approved of. The following eight householders were nominated for election to fill the live seats required;—Mevssrs J Oameron, P Paskeil, T Bennett, S Courtier, J D Ridgwell, J Paterson, D Yeoman and A Nelson. Voting

proceeded forthwith, when the undermentioned three gentlemen were voted out. Messrs J (Jaineron, D Yeoman, and A Nelson. A meeting of the newly-appointed committee was held immediately alter; when Mr P Paskell was appointed chairman and Mr J D Ridgwell was re-eleoted secretary and treasurer.

Moneymore. The annual meeting of householders in Moneymore school discriot was attended by the "usual number," states our informant. Mr Tlios Scott, chairman ol retiring committee, presided. The annual report showed that the attendance was being maintained very satisfactorily, and the number on the roll at present is 29, an increase of live during the year.—The school is still under the tuition of Miss Graliaui, who is giving every satisfaction to parents, and obtaining good results from the pupils under her ohargo; the inspector's reporj was first-class, thus evidencing oarefu tuition on the part of the teacher.— The committee meetings had been well attended.—Very little had been accomplished in improvements, but everything about the grounds was in good order.—-The break-up ceremony was held on December 18th, and. proved an unqualified success. There wore a large number of parents and t'rit'jHlH present at the ceremony, and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent in games and other amusements. The 'balance-sheet showed:—Receipts: Ualauce from previous year I £l7 os, 'grants from Education Board tor ordinary purposes £lb 2s, sale of wire 7s 6d; total £'6o 4s (id. Expenditure: (Jlouning-school and buildings £(>, fuel £7 Hi 6d, sundries lis; leaving a credit balance of £l7. The report and balance sheet were adopted, on motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr D Olark. The following were elected as committee:—Messrs D OlarJi, Jas Howie, J Allison, junr., Thos Scott (all reelected), aud W Harvey. At a subsequeut meeting of committee Mr Scott was re-elected chairman, and Mr Allison was re-elected secretary aud treasurer.

LovelSs Flat, The householders' meeting oil Monday evening was attended by 21 residents. Ten gentlemen were nominated tor tlie seven vaoancies, viz., Messrs J Olark, W Olarlj, J Adam, G Hall, D Bowie, D Grant, A Melville (all elected), ami Messrs J 0 Smith, D Bryce and W Hide. The first live were members of the retiring committee, whilst the other two retiring member* (Messrs Leask and Pringle) did not seek re-election. Messrs Hall and Adam were reelected chairman and secretary respectively.

Waihola. The folowing gentlemen .were duly elected as school committee at the meeting of householders:—Messrs W Bell, J G sTomkinson, G Shand, D Forrester, F Henke, W Fallowfield, and W Adams. At the meeting held afterwards Mr G Shand was elected chairman, and Mr J G Torakinson as secretary.
