THE GERMAN ARMY.

TEA TO BE THE SOLDIER'S DRINK.

A cablegram to hand a lew days siuce conveys the interesting_ announcement that the army authorities of Berlin have decided to substitute Tea for cofTee and beer as the regular beverage of their soldiers. This decision probably constitutes the most wc. : £hty endorsement of its value as a beverage which Tea has ever received. Of all nations, Germany is perhaps the most scientific ; and it may be depended on that the German authorities have not made the change alluded to without the strictest investigation, and that their decision is based on scientific tests as to the relative value of the beverages mentioned.

What makes tin's tribute to the virtues of Tea all the more valuable is the fact that upon v the present national drinks of coffee and beer the Germans have thriven exceedingly well. One has only to travel on a German vessel to realise the large quantity of strong cofTee or amber-coloured lager beer which the average German dis-1 poses of. Yet his liberal libations in either direction seem in no way detrimental. His appearance is usually one of joviality and health. The "typical German," says an Australian writer, "is not as I had imagined I him to be—short, fat, and badly built. I He is above the general height, and is splendidly built." But the German ideal in health, as in everything elsfy is ihQ attainment of se, JJESTs

The authorities at Berlin have apparently proved Tea to be better for their soldiers' health than either coli'ce or beer, and for this reason the substitution in question has lately been made.

A lot of nonsense has been talked about the injurious effects of Tea. The fact is, the beverage is only harmful when it is wrongly made and a poor tea is used. If TIGER TEA were always used, the health would be promoted. Freshly made aid served hot, there is no more acceptable drink under the sun. It's blended on the right principles, is composed of tho best growths of India and Ceylon, and is indisputably a safe, good, delicious Tea. If you drink "Tiger" you drink a beverage that practically carries with it a reeommendatian of the most scientific nation in tho world, not only because it is Tea, but because it is the BEST Tea.
