Milk fever is sometimes a source of great annoyance and loss to dairymen. There have been a good many eases in and around Kaitangata during the past season. Mr George Aitehison, a wellknown dairy man there, has been very successful in his treatment of them. His method is an injection of sterilised air into the udder of the affected eow, tying the teals afterwaiVU with tape to keep the air from escaping. The pump used is one mudc for the purpose, lie has had some remarkable recoveries, some of the-cows being almost at the point of death when he treated them, and he has not had a single death from milk fever. The air is absorbed into the system, and the udder gets quite slack. The cow is given a dose of salts, and in two or three days the cows come back to their milk as if nothing had happened. There are many cures for milk fever, but Mr Aitchison's, judging by the test of results, will stand favourable comparison with any of them.

A petition is being circulated in the Borough, asking the Council to acquire an acre or two of the land belonging to Mr John Dunne, between Charlotte street and the river. The petition is being pretty generally signed. and will be presented to the council in due course. There is a talk, too. that the A. and P. Society should acquire the property f.or the purposes of a show ground, the opinion being held by some that the position with regard to the present ground is not altogether satisfactory, the limited area, and the exposed nature of the buildings during tho year. We do not know that there is anything in this rumour, but we mention it. So far as the borough is concerned, it is pointer] out that the areas of land suitable for recreation purposes are being limited, and that unless steps are taklen now to provide for the future of the town in this respect, the opportunity will soon be lost.
