Milburn - Clarendon Notes.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
The first real touch of winter was experienced on Monday, but we must not grumble, the season having been one of the mildest on record. Ploughing is well advanced, and stock are looking well. A large percentage of the soft turnips has gone rotten. A commission from the Clutha Presbytery made up of Revs. Miller and Spence, and Mr Crawford visited Milburn and conferred with the Minister and office-.bearers regarding the work in the parish. A congregational meeting was held immediately after when the members present were asked if they had anything to say, but as no one spoke 1 presume things are considered satisfactory. Short addresses were given by the members of commission. The Ladies' Guild held a sale of their remaining goods on Saturday afternoon, and as things were greatly reduced in price nearly everything was sold. The Church fund benefits to the extent of a good round sum.
The Choir is busy practising a service of song which will be given some time next month in the Church. At the c inclusion of last Sunday evening's service the members said farewell to Mr J. Campbell, a member who is leaving the district, The annual meeting of subscribers to the Clarendon Hall is to be held next Monday evening.
I regret to hear that Mr R.. B. Paul, who recently underwent an operation in Oamaru, is far from being wellj in fact, he seems to be gradually getting weaker.
