Pufc 4 lbs of ripe grapes on the fire, in a granite kettle. Mash them until all are broken; add 12 whole cloves, 12 allspice, one inch square of stick cinnamon, and half as much ginger-root. Cook until the grapes are perfectly soft, then rub throngh a sieve, add one pint of vinegar, and sugar to taste. Put on to boil again and simmer until thick.
