Bush Fires at Collingwood.

MUCH PROPERTY, DAMAGED. Reports are to hand of extensive bush fires at Bainham, Bonny Doon, and Kaituna. Considerable damage was done, the sufferers losing rather extensively in the destruction of sheds, etc. The dwelling of Mr B. Kemp, at Bonny Doon Valley, was burnt down ; also the slaughter-house owned by Mr W. Allan' at Bainham, and the sheds of the Messrs Tyree and Brewer at Kaituna. Mr W. Grant, saw-miller, is a heavy loser, . all his milling plant and buildings being .destroyed,, only a small quantity being saved by, dismantling the mill. The mill tra mVay and standing bush also suffered. Far back in Bonny Doon Valley Messrs Langford and Keeghan lost everything but their dwelling. Mas Keeghan,. by tlje ., mistaking of the track in escaping from her. house, was lost in the bush, and was rescued only at one o'clock next morning. The fires originated owing to the annual burning of bush. At Puponga on Friday a scrub fire did considerable damage, and the mine was shut down for several hours to enable the miners fo assist in fighting i the flames: Two miners' tents were destroyed, and several mines in the bush damaged.
