Waitahuna Jottings.

(From Our Own Cobbespondent.) On Tuesday evening a fatal accident occurred . at Mr Bartlett s farm on the Waitahuna Eiver. After tea, with the light of the moon, three young men working with the mill and chaflicutter went out to sharpen the knives of the chaff cutter on^ a grindstone driven by . the engine. George Blaikie and George Bartlett each had a knife on the stone and M'lntyre was attending to the engine when the stone flew to pieces, a piece hitting Blaikie on the forehead, and opening his skull. Another piece hit Bartlett and slightly cut the top of his head. Mr Blaikie was quickly conveyed to Mr Bartlett's house where he received every attention until Dr Suther land arrived from Lawrence. He never recovered consciousness, but died a few minutes before the arrival of the doctor who said he could have done nothing, for the sufferer even had he been on the spot. Mr Bartlett's wound is slight and will inconvenience him little. Mr Blaikie whose parents reside in Milton, was a young man of 24 years of age. 'His 'brother owns a farm at Mount Stuart, adjoining tbat of Mr Bartlett. ■ For Children's Hacking Cough at . night tike WtodV O/eat -Peppermint Corf, l*6d and 2« fid.
