Presbytery Meeting

The Presbytery met in Balolutha Church on Wednesday, 13th insiVwhen there wen present* Revs. Carrie (Moderator), Fairmaid, Spenoe, Allen, Miller, Kilpatriok, D'ilrymple, Dr Bionermtn, and several Eiders* A apology lor absence was received from Rev.' Mr Ttfao&ltiater. The first business was the call from Chalmers' Churoh, Danedin, to R.v. 0. U. Speffoe, of Clinton. It was agreed to meet In huno effeotum on Jane 27, to consider the oall. For 10 years he has given himself heartily to the building op and strengthening of the congregation, and in work perhaps exceptionally diffioalt he has been successful in a very marked degree. In addition to Mr Faircnaid's work as minis. tar of Kaitangata, mention ahonld be mada of his invariable readiness to help bis brother ministers in evangelistic work, and of the great saooesa that by the blessing of God has attended his labors in this respeot. The Presbytery deeply regrets losing Mr Fairmaid, and trusts that in his new sphere of labor in South Taieri, the Master whom be has long served may oontinue His gracious helpful presence, and make his work as a preacher and pastor still more saooessf ul. Mr Fraser said that other members of the Presbytery oould say more of Mr Fairmaid than he. He knew that Mr Fairmaid was always most willing to help other ministers. He envied Mr Fairmaid's powers in doing so many things so well. There was this ad> vantage, that he wonld represent the Ciutha Presbytery in the Danedin Presbytery. Mr Kilpatriot said Mr Fairmaid ha* been at the beck and call of all ministers ia the best sonno of the word. Although leaving, he will be still able to help as.
