Deceased, did not complain oi being ill, bdt remarked that she felt better, than usuaL r She often suffered from weakness, and about sixweeks ago complained of pains in' the chest. Ib was about half-past six when she saw deceased- on Friday morning. She was quite unconscious but seemed to be breathing Blightly. Witness then sent for Stewart; Who; on arrival, pronounced Hfe' to be extinct. ' Deceased slept with her grand-daughter. '- She ' was never in the habit of taking medicines and there was no laudanum or any such thing kept in the house. " /''"' _ ..' :; '■"■";"'." ■■ ' '" '■' : ' ' ; ■ Jessie i Thbw, aged 3,0 years, also gave evidence. ' Dr. Stewart deposed that he was called shortly before 7 o'clock on Friday morning to. go to 'deceased's house. On arrival he found her dead in bed. He examined the body, but found no external marks nor any' trace of having taken poison. He believed that death was due to failure of the heart's j action, probably weakened -by chronic structure or disease, such as ossification of the arteries whioh supply the heart with blood. The body appeared like that of a healthy person. The jury returned a verdict in accordance with the doctor's evidence, that death was due to natural causes.
