Kaitangata, Athenæum
*&. The usual monthly meeting of the Kaitangata Athenaeum Committee was held on Thursday, 14th inst. There were present — Messrs Moir (in the- I*chair),1 *- chair), Blackie, Simpson, and Dr Fitzgerald. Accounts amounting to .£9 3s 6d were passed for payment. The report of the magazine subcommittee was read and discussed. After a good deal of consideration it was agreed to strike off certain periodicals which are rarely, if ever, looked at, and to substitute others suggested by a number of the subscribers. It was decided to refer the matter of supply of magazines to the chairman to confer with the local importers. A discussion took place or- a nqtice of motion from last meeting, that the money received from the Government as a subsidy to t__e Ljbrapj, havin» been accepted under a misapprehension, be returned — The motion was carried. A sub-committee consisting of the members present, was formed to draft a set of rules for the management of the institution, to report to 3iexs meeting. ;... ' ? --v
