(From Our Own Correspondent.) After a long spell of fine weather we experienced a cold snap on Sunday afternoon and another on Tuesday afternoon, both accompanied by heavy rain. On Tuesday morning we had a very keen frost for this time of the year The hull of Messrs M'Kenzie and Party's dredge was completed on Monday, and now awaits the arrival of the machinery, which is said to be aboard the unfortunate "Waikato. Unless a fresh lot of machinery is got, it is difficult to say when the dredge will be in working trim. The funeral of the late Thomas Leonard took place on Sunday afternoon, but as the weather was so wet and wintry many were prevented from attending. Bishop Neville conducted the Anniversary Services in St. Matthew's Church on Sunday afternoon, when there was a large attendance. In connection with the Anniversary Services a social was held in the (food Templars' Hall on Monday evening. The proceedings were opened by Messrs 11. Bruce and Party playing some selections. The Party consisted of Messrs Bruce (2), Cooper, Miss Bruce (violins), and Miss Cooper (pianoforte). Songs were sung by Misses R. Patrick, MLivingston, Messrs Bruce, Findlay, and T. Ryan. The Misses West played a pianoforte duet, Miss Patrick a pianoforte solo, and the orchestra consisting of Messrs M'Kenzie (2), Murray (2), Livingston, Cowen, and Miss Wall (violins), Mr Kirby (clarionette), Mr , A. M'Kenzie (pianoforte), played a number of Scotch seleotions which were very well received. Refreshments (tea i and cakes) were handed round during I the course of the evening, and a very pleasant evening was brought to a close about half-past 10 by the company singing "God save the Queen." Towards the end of the week the Good Templars' gave a concert, and next week the Flower Show is to be held in the Good Templars' Hall.
