—— — . — *■ . (Fbom Odb Own Correspondent). The annual meeting of the Lovells Flat Cricket Club was held in the schoolhouse on Monday evening last. The attendance was very good considering the number who have left the district of late, 14 or 15 playing members being present. The President (Rer. P. B. Fraser) occupied the chair. The Secretary having read the annual report and duly credited balance-sheet, ifc was moved by Mr Alex. M'Donald, and seconded by Mr D. Bowie, that the same be adopted. Carried. — After allowing for contingencies and meeting all expenditure the statement showed a small cash balance to credit to begin the season with. APPOINTMENT OE OFFICERS. The Chairman, in calling for nominations for the position of president, would impress upon members that he was perfectly willing to pass on the honor to any other member of their choice, and at the same time he would be happy to assist the Club to the best of his ability.— (Applause). Mr R. "W. Todd said that seeing that their president had such disinterested feelings in the matter, he would propose Mr Alex. Nelson as president for the ensuing year.— Mr C. Bowie, junr., seconded the motion, which was carried. The management for the year r-esultant from the appointments, stands as follows :— President, Mr Alex. Nelson ; Vice-presidents, Messrs P. B. Fraser, Arch. M'Donald, W. Hewitson, and Jas. Drinnan ; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr N. Pollock (re-elected) ; Captain, G. F. Hall (reelected) ; General Committee, Mess™ R. W. Todd, A. Hewitson, D. Bowie* Alex. M'Donald, A. E. King, and the usual ex officio members. Tbe governing body . Mr H. J. Pink was appointed a vice-president of the South Otago Crickec Association, and Mr A. E. King the Club's delegate on that body. At this stage it was suggested to the delegates to impress upou tbe Association at the first meeting tbe advantage of having all matches finished early in January. — (A voice : " Make it before the New Year, our men are apt to be seedy after the holidays.")— ( Laughter.) The members of the Association promised to keep the point in view. Mr R. "W. Todd reported that he and Mr Pollock interviewed Mr Geo. Elliot about the use of the ground where they formerly practiced. Mr Elliott kindly granted them the uae of the paddock for the season— (applause)-— the only condition imposed being that entrance be through the gate only, aDd climbing over the fences be prohibited. Members agreed that this was a reasonable condition, and a committee was suggested to ccc it carried strictly into effect. Deputy-captain, Mr D. Bowie ; Practice captains, Messrs Todd and Pollock ; Match Committee, ex officio and Messrs A. M'Donald and W. Hewitson. Mr Todd proposed and Mr King seconded that the secretary write to Messrs Bryce Bros, thaakiug them for the use of their paddock last Beason.— Carried. The opening of the seaaon was fixed for a scratch match on Saturday afternoon first., Entrance fees and subs to be the same as last year. The usual complimentary votes having been passed all round the meeting terminated.
